![]() ![]() The coconut also has a set of diverse magical powers that fit perfectly into this series as it creates unique situations that are enjoyable to watch. The crystal coconut, which is under his protection is used by him to move the plot forward in a good way. He's lovable, yet serious when he has to protect Kongo Bongo, and he has a lot of knowledge that helps the main characters. Cranky Kong is in my opinion the second best character. ![]() She adds a layer to every episode as DK now has to maintain his relationship with her on top of protecting Kongo Bongo from danger. Candy Kong is a really hot female side character that acts as DK's romantic interest in the series. Diddy Kong is a solid side character with a lot of personality that in the beginning mostly is used as a tool to make DK share his thoughts and emotions with the audience in their private conversations. This inner conflict is made clear in the episode "Double Date Trouble" where Donkey Kong has to choose between his social life with his all-time best friend Diddy Kong, his romantic relationship with Candy Kong, and his life as the protector of Kongo Bongo. ![]() We have the main character Donkey Kong (DK), who in my opinion is the best (and hottest) character with his charismatic personality, cool abilities, catchphrase (Banana Slamma) and internal confilcts about how he wants to spend his life. The diverse mix of both male and female characters and their different personalities and attributes makes every episode dynamic. The characters are in my opinion part of what makes this show so great. This animated series from 1997 is everything I ever wanted, and can definitely be enjoyed by both hard-core fans of the Donkey Kong franchise, and the people lookng for a fun animated series. To each their own but to seriously be a fan of this show you've just gotta be nuts! Not that the game could have by any means ever easily leant itself to the making of a show, but I still can't believe they took a gander at such a wonderful SNES platforming classic and made something so unappealing and rancid out of it, surely somebody could have done something better, anything!! The hideous animation was so stiff and clumsy, everything always happened in the same three or so locations, and there was at least two brain-cell killing musical numbers per episode - nothing is even remotely reflective of the simple pure greatness of those video games when Donkey King is singing a cool Caribbean-sounding song about his love for Dixie Kong and her creepy ape-boobs! Some may think this king of the cheesy late 90s animated kids shows will be forgiven as a product of its time, but no.I'm afraid it sucked then and it sucks now even more! Purest garbage, 3 Eddy the Yeti songs out of 10!!! Wow, this show was terrible! I even thought it was horrible as a kid, it was so astonishingly ugly and so boring, I thought it was completely awkward to watch and quite charmless. anyone younger won't really get it, and anyone older will be laughing at how stupid some of it is. Nowadays, i'd recommend this to someone between the age of 7 to 10 who's really into Nintendo, because that's all it will appeal to. I remember watching "The legend of the Crystal coconut" how many times when i was 10, and how i remember my dad eyeing the special effects (which were really good) the show had an engaging story for a guy at that age and it was Nintendo's character, so just watching donkey Kong for an hour and a few minutes was entertaining. but in some episodes, different enemies have come around, such as Captain Scurvy and his first and second mates. Rool, with his bumbling right-hand Krocs, Klump and Krusha. DK's mistakes usually end him up fighting King. Every now and then, his friend Funky Kong, his guardian, Cranky Kong, and his love interest, Candy Kong, make appearances, But they're not much more than just characters. I can't believe i can make that kind of reference.) Anyways, Donkey Kong is a fun loving ape who seems to screw things up or do something wrong at the beginning of the episode and then has to right his wrongs, with the help of his nephew (or "little buddy" as he constantly calls him) Diddy Kong. However, it delivered a donkey Kong feel, and i won't lie, i heavily dislike musicals (unless they have music that was written by either Slayer or Iron Maiden) but some of the songs throughout the shows were catchy, Particularly "Booty Booty" and "Big Bog Monster" and "the mirror never lies" (which reminded me of System of a down. Particularly "The legend of the crystal coconut" which was a VHS that had 4 episodes, in bad chronological order. It's hard to describe whether this show was good, or bad.
